student ministry

"I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth."

3 John 1:4 (NASB)

Perhaps no verse in Scripture better summarizes the heartbeat of the Student Ministry here at Rocky than 3 John 1:4. More than anything else we yearn for the students of RBBC to be grounded in the truth of God’s Word and to walk-or live-in accordance with that truth. This is our great desire because we are convinced that every other objective and goal that we have for our students finds its hope of being accomplished through our students embracing the truth of God’s Word.

WE WISH TO CULTIVATE IN OUR STUDENTS...

  • A Passion For God:   But a passion for God comes from one source if it is to be genuine – truths about God that give rise to authentic passion

  • A Love For The Bible:  Love for Scripture will come from one source if it is to be genuine – truth about what the Bible is, the immutable Word of God, that in turn creates within our students a love for it and a desire to know it. Joy In The Gospel: Joy in the Gospel will come from one source if it is to be genuine – a right understanding of the truth of the Gospel which in turn produces the unshakable joy of Matthew 13:44.

  • Trust In God: Trust in God must be built on truth if it is genuine and bring God glory.

  • Living A Life That Is Pleasing To God: Whether its in relationships with friends, with members of the opposite sex, with parents…or how students live their lives at school, on the sports field, in their careers, in their marriages, and in their families…all of these actions must be responses to truth if they are to be pleasing to God.

All of the goals that we have for our students find their hope of being fulfilled in their lives by one source alone, biblical truth. Biblical truth is the one and only source from which genuine God-honoring behavior and appetites will come.

A NOTE TO PARENTS…

It is our desire and mission to join with parents in instilling biblical truth in the lives of the students of RBBC. We hope to play a helpful, supporting role in your child’s discipleship by reinforcing the truths of God’s Word that you are instilling in your children at home. The call that God has placed on you to be the primary disciplers of your children is a weighty calling (Deut 6:4-9, Ps 78:1-7, Eph 6:4). We desire to be a support and encouragement in this calling by being another voice in the lives of your children affirming what you are teaching at home.
